7/17
by Julia Melone
you're almost asleep,
in my arms - so warm.
you're seven months now
–i picture you at
seventeen: driving a car,
dressing up
for a boy.
for now, i'm your whole world:
and content with
how your whole hand
fits around my thumb.
4/19jm+ for grace.

"date"jm+ is how i sign my poems. i've been writing poetry since i was 13, and probably in high school i started "signing" my poems. the plus mark looks cool, and it also has a meaning: "more" poems to come, and the Cross.
today was a ridiculously amazing day. first, i got to talk to my Dad on the phone, whom i haven't talked to in awhile. we reminisced about the early days of the internet, and the sound a modem makes (used to make), and i gave him the grace update. then, i was totally set to head to the library at 7th & girard, when i bumped into a very kind lady on my way there, who was also pushing a stroller. long story short, i happened upon ANOTHER playgroup! it's even closer to my house (4 minute walk). i really can't believe it. because i was very sleep-deprived (makes me extra creative- hence the above poem), the playgroup seemed like some sort of heaven, or narnia. i guess you have to be a mom to understand that one. i met so many nice moms and their children. i even met a new neighbor, who lives around the corner from us. i'm so thankful that i live in the city- i can walk anywhere- what a gift. i'm so thankful that God gave me the privilege of being a mom.
